Check out my first piece for the Wilmette edition of TribLocal about Living on the Alley. The Tribune is looking for contributors to this new website/weekly insert.
A fun piece about an uncommon topic! I grew up with alleys, so I take them for granted. I used to walk to junior high up our alley in Wilmette -- it was quiet, secluded, and in spring there were lots of fragrant lilacs bending over our neighbors' fences. As an adult I've been suprised and delighted to see how many people actually plant pretty perennials in their alley. Makes it worth a detour away from the street once in a while. Glad to hear you adjusted to life on the alley! ;-)
